Citizen Fish

Citizen Fish

Forming in 1989, this UK punk-ska band has put out 7 albums and played over 1000 shows in the last 15 years making them one of the longest running bands around. Three out of the four members also keep themselves busy playing in the legendary Subhumans. Citizen Fish recently ended a long period of inactivity with a tour and split 7" with New York’s Leftover Crack. The tour (dubbed “Cracktoberfest 2006”) and 7" were keenly received by fans old and new. This split 7" was a sample of what’s to follow on their upcoming full-length album, Deadline, also split with Leftover Crack, which is out March 6th, 2007 on Fat Wreck Chords (CD) and Alternative Tentacles (LP). Fans of their previous releases (on the band’s own label Bluurg, Lookout and Honest Don ’ s) will not be disappointed by this one, as it yet again combines crunchy chunks of “old-school” punk with solid skank rhythm. Deadline adds a few twists including 2 cover versions of Leftover Crack/Choking Victim songs performed by Citizen Fish and 2 Subhumans/Citizen Fish songs covered by Leftover Crack. Backed with singer Dick Lucas’ insightful socio-political lyrics, the album was written and recorded last August in a flash of motivation to get the Fish up and swimming again and shows the band as inspired as ever. Expect a full US tour in March 2007 to support the split.
