You heard it right, we’re reuniting with the Star Fucking Hipsters for their next release! All is cool with Alternative Tentacles but these drifters like to move around, and we’re stoked to have them. This marks their third proper full length and we’re looking for a fall release. Stay tuned for details, and check out what Sturgeon had to say below:
On the eve of detention:
S.F.H. destined to make Star Fucking History. All basic tracks & Nico vox have been tracked at Motor studios earlier this year with prolific drummer/singer/song-writer Mikey Erg! (from every band you’ve ever heard of…) & full on guest spots by the likes of Boots Riley from The Coup, Blackbird Raum from Santa Cruz & Intro5pect from So. Cal. Recording S.F.H.‘s highly anticipated Vol.III for Fat records (en?)titled “From the Dumpster to the Grave” will recommence at the end of May with new addition to the band Kelsey from the Oakland/Vallejo “super-group” Chump-Change! Expect at least 13 tracks of “Bubble-Gum Crust” & “Crack Rock Steady-isms”. At least four ska tunes says band talking head “Sturgeon/Stza Crack”. More guests’ TBA & a fall release to be sure. Expect art from Fly, Eric Drooker, Beau Coulon, Alyssa Tanchaka & Paul Barron to name a few. S.F.H. love & want to sex you all up unless you’re under-age in which case they will “wait” until your 18th birthday (16 in Europe…).
Get ready to have a new favorite band as Fat Wreck Chords has signed Ellwood! If you’ve been missing the Mad Caddies, Ellwood is for you. Chuck, singer from the Mad Caddies formed Ellwood in a tiny farming community where there was nothing to do but get some dudes together and play music. The result is Lost in Transition, Ellwood’s debut on Fat Wreck Chords, due out on June 21st, 2011. Stay tuned as we’ll be debuting a track, and listing tour dates soon!
Dead To Me, Off With Their Heads and Riverboat Gamblers are heading out this summer on a massive tour. The tour is a shared co-headlining bill with the bands rotating positions, so you’ll need to check your local listings for the line-up. Check out Dead To Me drummer & artist Ian Anderson’s tour poster below.
Pour Habit’s much anticipated new album Got Your Back, and Teenage Bottlerocket’s 3 song 7’’ Mutilate Me are both out today! Head out to your favorite local record store and snatch ’em up, or, if you are more of a minimalist, you can always get the less cumbersome digital versions.

Fat Wreck Chords is teaming up with Crankstrap Productions to release a DVD from The Lawrence Arms titled An Evening of Extraordinary Circumstance, due out in late summer. The video was shot at The Metro in Chicago during The Lawrence Arms 10 year anniversary show. Take a look at this stellar preview and we’re confident you’ll find what you’ve come to expect at a Lawrence Arms show: booze, banter, music and the usual rogues’ gallery of fans. Check out what Brendan Kelly had to say about the DVD:
When Travis approached me about filming The Lawrence Arms’ 10 year anniversary show at the Metro in Chicago, I said something to the effect of “sure, I don’t care, just as long as I don’t have to do any work or think about it at all.” Well, fast forward a year and a half and motherfuckers are asking me for blurbs about this shit. This wasn’t part of the deal, man! If Travis had done anything less than a spectacular job of capturing three sweaty gross men doing what we love to do, I’d feel really put upon. Fortunately, however, Travis is a great filmmaker and I think the results speak for themselves.
Read a new interview with Joey Cape. He talks Stitch Puppy, Hang, Trashed, the Fat 25th Anniversary tour, and his favorite Fat record.
