Spawned in the secluded, blue collar funky lil’ farming community of Forestville, CA (about an hour north of SF, population 1,776), Bracket formed in the early 90’s and immediately began creating catchy, quirky, guitar driven power noise pop.

After releasing their own debut 7" (Giant Midge, now hopelessly out of print) the apple picking popsters were snatched up by Caroline Records. Their two resulting albums (924 Forestville Street and 4 Wheel Vibe) were met with much critical acclaim and fanbase fawning. A few of Bracket’s biggest fans were us FAT folks who, in the interim between albums, were lucky enough to release three 7" singles (BS, Stinky Fingers, and For Those About to Mock).

The summer of ’96 brought more good fortune when the long-awaited opportunity arose for Bracket to jump ship full-time to FAT. The initial result was the F is For Fat double 7" and the <i.E is For Everything CDEP. While gearing up to record their first proper full length for FAT, Bracket toured the US with the likes of NOFX, SNFU, Tilt, Smoking Popes, MxPx, and Everclear, went to Europe, toured England, recorded a Peel Session, had a few overseas releases, and toured Japan. Whew.

In September of ’98, FAT released the Bracket album Novelty Forever, 12 catchy new gems recorded summer of ’97 at Motor Studios. In support of the record Bracket joined other Fat veterans No Use For A Name, Mad Caddies, and Consumed on the Winter and Spring Fat Tours of 2000. It was huge.

Bracket released their second Fat full length, When All Else Fails, in May of 2000. A stellar album that even featured a song co-written by Fat Mike. Although they’re underdogs of the independent music scene, Bracket once again blew everyone away with the record. Bracket is a band that’s not only appreciated by fans and critics, but they’re held in high esteem by the most fickle of listeners: musicians. When All Else Fails is proof of that, ask around!

2002 brought us a treat in the form of Bracket’s Live In A Dive. The second installment in Fat Wreck Chords series of live records features an enhanced CD and comic book artwork. Most importantly it’s made up of ALL Bracket’s hits from every era and all professionally recorded at SF’s Bottom of the Hill. It was a helluva show!
